How to take winning photos: To take clear, focused photos, follow these simple steps: Set your camera resolution to 5 megapixels or higher. Bigger is better. Turn off your flash if possible (using a flash at close range produces a bright 'hot spot' in the center of your photo and makes everything else look dark). Stand at least 6 feet away from your car; many cameras can't focus on objects much closer than about 3 feet away from the lens. Take your photo outdoors in natural sunlight if possible. Make sure the sun is behind you or to the side of the car you're trying to photograph. Do not take photos with the sun BEHIND the car! Make sure the car is in even light (not half in the shade and half in the sun). Do not stand where your body casts a shadow on the car! Use your autofocus (push the shutter button halfway down, pause to allow the camera to autofocus, and then fully depress the button to take the photo). Use a high contrast background. If your car is dark, stay away from dark back drops. The back of a ligher colored warehouse wall or skyline of the beach works well. Try to keep the background clean and uncluttered. Don't take photographs on grass, it may look nice but it's tough for our artists to crop out for use in catalogs or websites where a background isn't desired. Try taking shots at angles all around the car, rotate the vehicle experimenting with lighting and different heights. This will provide a welcome variety to your collection of photographs. |
